Chiltern DFAS Painting Competition 2016

Chiltern DFAS Young Arts Group hosted a presentation for four schools taking part in this year's painting competition. The schools taking part were:

Robertswood, Chalfont St Peter CofE Academy, Chalfont St Giles Village School and St Mary's School.

 

This is the fifth year of the competition, the topic this year being 'Springtime’.

Meg Blunsdon, Young Arts leader, welcomed the young artists and their families and friends. Sue Gilbert the National Chairman of Young Arts and Felicity Sykes the Area Chairman were present. Lionel Anthony, Chairman of Chiltern DFAS presented the prizes.

 

Fourteen children were awarded Highly Commended certificates. Four School prizes were awarded with a certificate and the three winners were awarded medals, a prize and a certificate.

Amelia Leisten from Robertswood won the gold medal, Fei-Bi Allen from Chalfont St Peter CofE Academy was awarded the silver medal and Molly Evans from Robertswood won the Bronze.

 

School Prizes were awarded to: Hettie Ridout, Robertswood; Daina Jenkins, Chalfont St Peter CofE Academy; Obi Green, Chalfont St Giles Village School; Anoushka Sekhri, St Mary's School.

 

Each school will be visited before the Easter break when further certificates will be awarded and every child who entered the competition will receive a commemorative badge to mark the occasion.

Twenty one paintings are currently displayed in the library and will remain until the end of April.

Chalfont St Peter library have hosted the event since it began in 2012. Karen Dickson, on behalf of the library, was presented with two books for the children's art section as a thank you for their hospitality.

Everybody enjoyed the happy occasion.
