The extraordinary life, times and works of photographer LEE MILLER

   LEE MILLER - 1907 to 1977  @  ROMANBY GOLF & COUNTRY CLUB

American born, she was one of the twentieth century’s most remarkable photographers.  In a life full of reinvention, as a stunningly beautiful woman, she moved from being a model for Vogue & avant garde muse, to set up her photography studio.   Once established she took photos for Vogue and portraits of many of the famous cultural figures of the time.

In WW II, she took iconic photographs of the Blitz.  Then she joined frontline troops moving across Germany to record the devastation & plight of the people. She was there to vividly document the liberation of Dachau concentration camp.

After the War she lived in rural England, bringing up her son Antony who knew little of her flamboyant past.  When she died, he discovered more than 60,000 photographs and souvenirs.  Now thanks to his efforts, her life, and works have a deserved recognition worldwide and prompted Kate Winslet to star as her, in the film “LEE” to be released this September.

After finishing work with Kate Winslet on the film, Antony will visit us to host three interactive sessions: -
