Visit to Burghley House
11 Mar 2020
In June 2019, a party of members of the Arts Society North Bucks visited Burghley House, Stamford, a magnificent Tudor mansion built over a period of 32 years, from 1555 to 1587.
In the morning, we enjoyed a private guided tour of the interior of the house and its artworks, including beautiful tapestries and wood carvings, several by Grinling Gibbons.
After lunch in the Orangery restaurant, we were then free to explore the house further or to enjoy the deer park or gardens; many members spent all their time in the fascinating Sculpture Garden full of modern structures. Some images are shown here.
