The Arts Society's Lecturing Academy 2018

17 May 2018

This year The Arts Society celebrates fifty years of delivering the highest quality lectures available in the art world. We are keen to share our wealth of skills and knowledge with young people who want to learn how to talk about the arts in a way that engages even the most discerning of audiences. In August 2018 The Arts Society is running its second Lecturing Academy - a fully funded five-day residential training course offering opportunities to develop and practise presentation skills. We would particularly welcome applications from arts practitioners who would like to communicate their passion to others.

The course is fully residential and will take place at the Woodbrooke Conference Centre in Birmingham (www.woodbrooke.org.uk) with visits to the Barber Institute of Fine Arts at Birmingham University (www.barber.org.uk).

When: Sunday 12th August – Thursday 16th August 2018

What’s covered: confident speaking training, presentation skills training including information on software and sourcing and using illustrative images, learning how to talk about art, accommodation, all meals, transport to all venues, ongoing opportunities to lecture with The Arts Society following completion of the course. Participants will just be asked to cover their travel costs to and from Birmingham.

To apply for one of the 12 fully-funded places please complete our short application form which can be found here.

Enquiries can be sent to education@theartssociety.org Closing date for applications: 9am on Tuesday 26 June 2018. Telephone interviews are scheduled to take place on 3 & 4 July 2018.
