Welcome to The Arts Society South West London
We are a registered charity (no 1195700) based in Putney, but our members also come from Barnes, Sheen, Roehampton, Fulham and other surrounding areas. Meetings, which are normally held at the Putney Leisure Centre, take place on the second Monday of each month (except April and August) at 8.00 pm when we have a varied programme of illustrated lectures by Arts Society speakers who are all experts in their own specialist fields.
We also organise day visits to places of special historic or architectural interest and have a study morning each year for in-depth lectures focusing on the year’s Away Trip, which alternates between the UK or abroad.
Details of all our activities are can be found on our website. We welcome new members and if you would like more information about joining us, please visit www.theartssocietyswlondon.org.uk

The lecture will look at the Pre-Raphaelite revival in stained glass windows pioneered by William Morris and his associates.
Leighton (a bastion of the Establishment) later espoused the Aesthetic Movement and had great influence on the decorative arts.
John Singer Sargent, noted for his society portraits, travelled extensively. This lecture looks at the luminous works from his travels.
