A guided visit to neo-Palladian Gorhambury House, Grade II listed home of the Grimston family

Gorhambury House was commissioned by James Grimston, the 3rd Viscount Grimston, and built between 1777-84 by the architect Sir Robert Taylor in a neo-Palladian style. It replaced 16th century Old Gorhambury house – now a ruin – built by the family of philosopher and statesman Sir Francis Bacon. Grade II* Listed, Gorhambury House has been lived in by the Grimston family since its construction.

Our guided visit will feature the main rooms in the neo-Palladian section of the house. Highlights include family portraits, 17th century painted glass windows, salvaged from Old Gorhambury house, and the earliest English pile carpet.

Members to travel independently and meet in the carpark of the House for the visit.
