Led by expert tour guide Simon Whitehouse, join us to explore this fascinating corner of London.

Fitzrovia, one of the least known of the West End districts, didn’t even ‘exist’ until the 1930s, and is filled with surprises - leafy streets, a breathtaking Gothic church and a glorious Georgian garden square that was largely untouched by wartime bombing or (worse) town planning.

This area has been home to great artistic and literary luminaries such as Virginia Woolf, Vanessa Bell, Walter Sickert, James Whistler and Grayson Perry. Charles Dickens, who as a child lived on Cleveland Street, once described London as "streaky bacon”, with the lewd and bawdy sandwiched between elegant grandeur. And Cleveland St made headline news in 1887 with a sex scandal that almost engulfed the royal family…!

To counterbalance the ‘lewd & bawdy’ we’ll pay a call on the Art Deco home of “Auntie” Beeb - BBC Broadcasting House - with its exciting blend of original Art Deco and 21st century steel and glass.

The tour will go from Warren St tube station and end near Oxford Circus. It will last 1.5 to 2 hours.
