Ian Cockburn takes on a journey through Moorish architecture

Travel back in time to medieval Spain with art historian Ian Cockburn, a specialist in Moorish and Christian art of Iberia. This lecture offers a captivating look into the extraordinary architecture left behind by nearly 800 years of Moorish occupation—a legacy that continues to awe and inspire.

From the ethereal beauty of the Alhambra in Granada to the majestic arches of the Great Mosque of Cordoba and the fortified elegance of the Alcazar of Seville, Ian will introduce you to these iconic masterpieces of Islamic architecture. But this is only the beginning. You’ll also uncover lesser-known gems, gaining a deeper understanding of how Moorish architectural genius has left an indelible mark on Spain’s cultural and visual identity.
