Special Interest Day - Dr Sally Dormer to present two very special lectures on the medieval church.
‘’Medieval churches were often described by contemporary writers as a visual and sensory foretaste of Heaven on earth. Their grand proportions, brightly coloured interiors and costly furnishings fashioned from gold, silver, silk, ivory and enamel created an otherworldly paradise, a dramatic contrast with everyday experience. This Special Interest Day will explore how patrons and craftsmen achieved these effects in 11th and 12th century Romanesque Europe."
Cost: £38 including light sandwich lunch.
