Welcome to The Arts Society Kensington & Chelsea

The Arts Society Kensington Chelsea is a friendly voluntary organization which meets in the Kensington Central Library Lecture Hall at 12 Phillimore Walk, W8 7RX.  The Arts Society Kensington Chelsea was founded in 1973 by Pam Boas and  every November  holds The Pam Boas lecture in her  memory.

We are an independently registered Charity and the funds received via the Gift Aid scheme are used to support charities within the Borough, normally associated with the young arts.  We consider that Heritage Volunteering is an important part of our role within The Arts Society and currently have more than 30 members working on a wide-range of projects within the Greater London Area.

The Arts Society Kensington Chelsea has a twinning arrangement with The Arts Society in Sydney and Cairns, Australia.

We welcome new members throughout the year. Should you wish to come to a lecture before joining to see if this is for you, we ask for a small donation of £5.00 to be made at the door.  We look forward to meeting you.  For further information and membership details please email: membership@theartssocietykensingtonchelsea.com

LECTURES. Our members enjoy a wide range of lectures which are included in the annual subscription. The monthly lectures are held from October to July on Tuesdays at 10.30am and on Thursdays at 6.30pm.  Our lectures are held in the Kensington Central Library Lecture Hall entrance via 12 Phillimore Walk, which is also the entrance to the local Surgery. To attend, members must show their current membership card.

We expect that our new Programme of lectures, starting in October, will  be broadcast via Zoom to begin with.  The new  Programme details will be posted in due course and, as soon as our lecture hall  can safely open again, we will of course let members know. Reminders for  Zoom lectures will be sent to members a week and  again a day before the lecture.

If you know of friends or family who  would like to follow one of our Zoom lectures, please send us their email address.  We will email them the link and hope that they will be encouraged to join our Society: membership@theartssocietykensingtonchelsea.com

VISITS.  We arrange visits  to places of interest both in London and further afield.
Our annual  programme of visits is currently suspended until we are advised that we may safely resume organising group visits and we hope to be able to reschedule some of the visits that we could not do this Spring.    As soon as we know this we will of course let all members know.  We are planning to reschedule our trip to Lisbon for  either May,  or again October,  of next year, once again depending on the relevant guidelines for overseas travel.

HERITAGE VOLUNTEERS.  We are part of an extensive programme of Heritage Volunteering, working with Museums and collections in and around London on  many interesting projects.  For Further details: enquiries@theartssociety.org
