Three very special lectures on the history and culture of 17th Century Dutch artists that brought dynamic art to fruition
Jane Choy-Thurlow will talk about the Golden Age which was a period in Dutch history, roughly spanning the 17th century, in which the Dutch were a major world power, leaders in trade and science and also in art. The paintings produced by Dutch artists are considered some of the greatest works of art in the world.
Each of our three lectures will concentrate on one aspect of this glorious era:-
- Intimacies and Intrigues and Who’s Who: History paintings and Portraits
- Reality Show or Illusion? Genre painting
- Mirrors of Reality! Landscape and Still Life paintings.
Images provided with the kind permission of the Mauritshuis in The Hague – these works are part of their collection.
