Would you ever expect to be tricked by a fake picture?
Would you ever expect to be tricked by a fake picture? For centuries, many people have been fooled by forgeries and the art market today still holds many pitfalls for picture buyers. This talk looks at a few different categories of fakes and forgeries, and focuses briefly upon three men who tried (and succeeded) in fooling the art market.
Richard Kay
Following a History of Art degree at St Andrews, Richard began his career at Southebys in 1987. He worked in their salesrooms in Chester, Sussex and London for nearly nine years. Richard joined Lawrences in 1999, having previously been an Associate Director at Phillips Auctioneers where he oversaw picture sales and valuations for the firm in Central Southern England.
