Visit to Chichester & Champs Hill
23 May 2019 - 11:47 BY Kate Liddiard
We had a mild spring day for The Arts Society Visit to Chichester and Champs Hill. On our arrival in Chichester town centre, our group scattered to enjoy the delights of Chichester which included the beautiful Cathedral, interesting boutique shops and Pallant Art Gallery with its constantly changing exhibitions, coffee shop and restaurant. After lunch, we boarded the coach and went on to Champs Hill Gallery which is privately owned with its wonderful Newlyn School paintings and outside sculpture garden. Arriving slightly earlier than planned, we took time to visit the beautiful and well tended gardens and marvelled at the wonderful sculptures. We were then offered tea, coffee and biscuits and given a short talk about the family and its acquisition of paintings and sculptures before proceeding with a viewing of the paintings. Champs Hill Gallery is only open by private invitation from the family to art groups.
