A Post-Covid Social Gathering

A Post-Covid Social Gathering

8 Oct 2021

On Thursday 30 September 2021, over 50 members of The Arts Society North Bucks, some guests and several potential new members, attended our first live meeting in Lovat Hall, Newport Pagnell since March 2020. Lectures have been presented successfully using Zoom since September 2020, but many members were delighted to have this opportunity for a return to 'normal'!

No TAS lecturer was engaged, but there was plenty for members to do, apart from enjoying the pleasures of meeting with old friends with a cup of coffee or tea in hand!

Delicious cakes were on sale to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support; there was a display of some of our talented members' Lockdown Art – painting, drawing, making models, and poetry; our Church Recorders team presented a display of their recent work, and members could book places on our Visit to Compton Verney Art Gallery in November.

We were delighted to welcome Elizabeth Howard, from the Arts and Heritage Alliance-Milton Keynes (AHA-MK). Elizabeth gave a short presentation about the work of AHA-MK in general, and specifically described the MAKE-2 Project during 2021, to which TAS North Bucks has given financial support. This project has enabled young people aged 14 to 16 to work with professional artists to produce videos and creative 'art boxes' for primary school children.

The success of this social event has led to the decision to revert to live lectures at Lovat Hall from December 2021. Come and join us for our Christmas lecture on 16th December, and enjoy a glass of wine and mince pies too!
