We at Arts Society Hambleton are celebrating the overwhelming success of our first HYBRID LECTURE
10 Oct 2021
Our lecture on Tuesday 12th October is “The Golden Age of Spanish Painting” with Arts Society lecturer Gail Turner.
Arrangements for Hybrid Lectures
We are planning to offer hybrid lectures to our members for the 2021-22 lecture season. Lectures will be delivered live in the hall by our speakers to members who wish to be present in the hall and zoomed from the hall to our members who prefer to stay at home. The link for the lectures for those who wish to access it via Zoom will be sent a week in advance as happened from September last year. We are keeping the one way route at the venue and ask members to register in the small hall, then proceed through to the bar area where you may, if you wish, collect a coffee or tea. If you wish you may take your tea or coffee through to the main hall instead of congregating in the bar area. Members of the Committee will be available to help so if you are not sure what to do please ask for help. We will open windows in the hall to improve ventilation and we will set out the chairs with space between them to allow for social distancing. This will reduce the capacity in the hall to approximately 70 persons. The small number of members who do not use Zoom will be allowed priority access to seats in the hall.
If you wish to attend the next lecture in the hall, please confirm your place by emailing Hazel Teale at email@example.com by Friday 8th October.
Gravesend Art Group
Gravesend Art Group is holding their annual exhibition at St George’s Church in Gravesend from Thursday 23rd September to Sunday 26th September. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday doors will be open from 10.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m On Sunday the doors will be open from 12 noon to 4.00 p.m. The exhibition is called “Art and Flowers” and in addition to their latest works of art there will be beautiful floral displays in the church, greetings cards and postcards on sale. Admission is free. We hope you will support Gravesend Art Group by visiting their exhibition.
“Canal History and Heritage” Lecture
Unfortunately, due to technical difficulties, we were unable to deliver our September lecture via Zoom from the hall in Wrotham Road. Some of our members braved the weather and attended our meeting where Roger Butler, our speaker, presented “Canal History and Heritage”. At the same time that we were having difficulties connecting to the internet to access Zoom, Roger was experiencing difficulties opening his slides so we all experienced a challenging morning and Roger ended up delivering a version of his lecture, though not the one planned from his original slides. We would like to apologise to all those members who were unable to access our first lecture of the 2021-22 season on Zoom and thank those who did attend the meeting for their patience and understanding. Roger has very kindly agreed to present his lecture again, this time via Zoom, on Tuesday 14th December at 11.00 a.m. A link will be sent out to all members one week in advance so those who missed out last week will be able to catch up and if you did attend last week and want to see the lecture again, you will be able to do so from the comfort of your own home.
