Eastbourne College - Stained Glass Old & New
27 Oct 2019 - 15:37 BY
TASE were privileged to be invited by Eastbourne College to view their stained glass windows, both old and new.
Following a welcome by our hosts, the group moved to the Dance Studio located in the new Winn building which is part of the very ambitious Project 150 marking the College’s 150th Anniversary, and completed last year.
Vivienne Lester introduced the Stevens Competition, an international event run by the Worshipful Company of Glaziers. The competition was used to commission the stained glass windows “Dancing into Light” by Jessica Lambinett with the generous sponsorship of the Arnold Embellishers.
There followed a presentation by the Archivist covering the college’s history on the site from 1867, after which the group moved to the College Chapel to view the extensive range of stained glass windows which date from 1887-1957 including a number by the renowned Mary Lowndes.
