The East Dean Tiger

The East Dean Tiger

Bringing a cricket roller to life as a Tiger!

In March 2021, the TASE Committee was approached by East Dean Cricket Club asking if we could help them. Aiming to increase the number of boys and girls taking up cricket from all groups in society, they had bought a road roller to maintain their new wicket and wanted to convert the roller into a ‘Tiger’ with eyes, ears, claws and stripes to bring it to life. They hoped to inspire young children to engage with the cricket club as well as have some fun.

Your Committee felt this was a worthwhile aim and offered a donation towards the cost from Arts Volunteering funds. As a result, the club commissioned well known Brighton Graffiti artist Fek Oner to paint the roller and on 23rd May we were invited to East Dean to see the new Tiger roller emerge from it’s lair to show off it’s fresh Tiger paint job prior to the opening of the new wicket.

Despite the wet morning over 70 children and their families attended and we all agreed the Tiger was a great success.
