Needlewomen from East and West Surrey Societies work at Guildford Cathedral reparing and conserving many of the religious textiles held there. Everything from hemming one of the clergies copes ( many held together with nappy pins!) to netting delicate embroideries and replacing non-reparable brocades. It's a regular and social morning with the Surrey-wide team chatting and sharing stories and expertise. The Arts Society has provided training and a generous society has funded regular training from a member of the Royal School of Needlework on site dealing with particular projects.
