The Arts Society Victoria

 

We are delighted to announce the launch of The Arts Society Victoria. Our brand new society will hold evening lectures at 7pm on the first Tuesday of most months in the wonderful hall of The Grey Coat Hospital School, Greycoat Place, London, SW1P 2DY. We will begin with our inaugural lecture at 7pm on Tuesday, 6th November 2018 where Leslie Primo, one of our most popular accredited lecturers, will explore the influence of foreign artists on British Art is his talk ‘Foreigners in London 1520-1677: the artists who changed the course of British Art’. Doors will be open from 6.30pm with wine and soft drinks available before and after the lecture. 

We welcome new members and are a friendly, inviting society. As a member you will enjoy ten evening lectures a year running from November to October (lectures will not be held in January or August of each year). Antony’s parents were Roland Penrose, the curator and biographer of Picasso, and Lee Miller, the photographer. Picasso painted her portrait six times and she photographed him more than 1,000 times and her images illustrate Antony’s entertaining and amusing account of life around Picasso.
