Coronavirus Update

You will all be aware of the worsening coronavirus situation and many of you will have seen yesterday’s e-mail message from The Arts Society Headquarters telling us that they are cancelling National and Area meetings and events for the period from 16th March to 30th April.

After reviewing the situation and especially bearing in mind that many of our members are at higher risk, the Committee have decided that we must also err on the side of caution. I am therefore writing to say that we are cancelling the following events planned for this month and for April:

• Special Interest Day next Tuesday 17th March
• Coffee morning on Friday 20th March
• Monthly meeting on Thursday 2nd April.

Ros Balfour has already been in touch with most of those who have booked for the Special Interest Day. They will receive a full refund.

At present we have taken no decision on meetings and visits planned for May and June, though it does seem very possible that we will have to make further cancellations. If we do have to cancel the Westminster Abbey visit, those who have already paid will receive a full refund.

Peter Crowfoot has been in touch earlier this week with those who have booked for the Lisbon tour at the end of April and will keep them informed as and when we receive further news from the tour operator.

I am sorry to bring you this sad news. We will let you later about events for May and June. Where possible, we will try to arrange new dates for cancelled events when the situation permits.
