The Secret Garden- Munstead Wood

The Arts Society Guildford enjoyed a very special private guided tour of Gertrude Jekyll's own garden at Munstead Wood in Godalming, Surrey in June. Taken around by the garden's current Gardener we stepped back into a garden almost wholey restored to Jekyll's plan. Saw her florist's 'shop' -she supplied flowers to local people and by train from Godalming to customers in London. Everywhere huge, white Munstead foxgloves and border edges of Mrs Simpkins carnations- which definately deserve a revival! Her famed massive herbacious borders where planted for late summer glory so we need to plan another visit!
