Young Arts Days 2017 Textile Workshops
Young Arts Days 2017 Textile Workshops
29 Dec 2017
Textile Workshops , sponsored by Lunesdale Arts Society, were held at Carnforth High School on November 14th and 15th, 2017.
Each class contained about 20 + Year 9 (14 year old pupils), who had chosen Art and Design as a GCSE option.
The Workshops were led by Emily Jackson of “Ragtag Arts, Kendal,” supported by Sharon Grimes, Head of Art, and Alex, another art teacher at the school. A trainee teacher and some teaching assistants were drafted in to help as well.
The students learnt various textile techniques including:-
Foil embossing; felt making; cling film trapping; fabric collaging; and stitching.
The work produced was loosely based on the patterns found in insects.
The completed works will be publicly displayed in the school and Carnforth in 2018.
