The Arts Society Guildford relaunches and joins forces with the Arts scene in Guildford
21 Jun 2017
After the national organisation's (NADFAS) highly successful rebranding, The Arts Society Guildford (formerly Guildford Evening DFAS) welcomed Guildford Arts and Guildford Arts Society to their recent relaunch summer party in Onslow Village Hall. Pimms and Canapes were the order of the day on a lovely summer evening and Sian Davis, Chair of The Arts Society Guildford, invited Jan Wilkinson and Bill Ward of Guildford Arts and Marylin McNie of The Guildford Arts Society to introduce them to The Arts Society Members. The very social evening brought together local arts societies, all of whom are focused on developing and promoting arts and heritage in Guildford.
Sian Davis said "The Arts Society brand gives us the perfect opportunity to reintroduce ourselves and engage with the local Guildford art scene in a more dynamic way and so introduce a new audience to The Arts Society Guildford and a world of lifelong learning in the arts."
Jan Wilkinson said "It was great to be invited to The Arts Society Guildford's relaunch and to experience its energy and interest in the arts. We hope all the Guildford arts community will be able to work more closely together to engage with and raise the profile of Guildford's arts scene making it accessible to all, a vital part of everyone's life and well-being.
After the party, The Arts Society Guildford's summer lecture was given by Caroline Rayman; a fascinating talk, sumptuously illustrated, revealing details of the iconic Rothschild, Astor and Sackville-West families and their fabulous British gardens - a perfect follow-up to The Arts Society's June trip to Sissinghurst!
All were then encouraged to visit the newly formed 'Artsegg' website which promotes all aspects of art in Guildford and features a What's on page of upcoming arts events. Visit https://www.artsegg.uk/
The Arts Society Guildford meets every second Wednesday evening from September to June and enthusiastically welcomes members to enjoy a varied programme of talks, visits and volunteering. They will be hosting a taster day at the Guildford Book Fesitval in October. For further details visit www.theartssocietyguildford.org
