Lecture and Guided Walk

Stamford is probably best known for its beautiful Georgian buildings. To walk around Stamford is to pass along streets that are absolutely packed with examples of Georgian architecture.

The talk by Philippa Massey seeks to answer the question: how, and why did Stamford come to be so? The town went from largely medieval and timber-framed to largely stone-built classical style in about 125 years. Philippa explores the reasons and factors driving this change and expansion.
