In the Footsteps of Frank O. Salisbury: A Local Heritage Trail

In the Footsteps of Frank O. Salisbury: A Local Heritage Trail

25 Apr 2025

Frank O Salisbury
We wanted local people to be able to find and see the artworks he left in
Harpenden (mostly stained glass) and the houses in which he lived and worked.
So the trail guide shows where he was born, his first married home and the one
he had built later, Red Gables, to give himself much more studio space. Also he
designed the town crest and it - or at least a replica - still stands on the
common. The original is in the local history museum. Prints of two of his large
pageant pictures are also available in the Town Hall.

The trail guides are available through the local history museum, and I hand them
out freely whenever I give a presentation on Frank: 5 so far.
