Art @ The Station in Epsom
Art @ The Station in Epsom
22 Nov 2024
There is now Art @ the station in Epsom. The designs were generated by 16 - 18 year old Creative Arts Students at Nescot College of Technology in Epsom. Thanks to Southern Railway for supporting this initiative. This is to show budding artists work to a wider world and to enhance the travelling experience of passengers visiting Epsom and to give them 'A sense of place' and raise awareness of the Art in Epsom.
It was organised by Angie Child with the help of Linda Bristow from The Arts Society Epsom. There are five railway stations in its locality, so it was a match for budding artists and a railway company keen on showing and encouraging organised artwork in the station. The project was started in early 2024; the design work in the summer of that year and the printing of some of the artwork and its installation during September 2024.
Tattenham Corner station adjacent to the famous racecourse now has children’s artwork from Epsom Downs Community school entitled ‘Rockets’ displayed in a large permanent lockable picture frame. The Work will be changed regularly.
