Arts Society North Bucks brings music to Milton Keynes University Hospital
13 Jun 2024
On Friday May 3rd The Arts Society North Bucks gave a donation to the Alina Orchestra, our local professional orchestra, to support an outreach visit by their 'Band in a Van' (their brass, woodwind and percussion ensemble) to our local hospital.
The players gave two performances in a marquee, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, as a finale to a week of events organised by the Patient and Family Engagement team. Their programme was designed to entertain and involve patients, staff, visitors and friends,of all ages. The musicians were extremely accomplished and were able to present a wide range of lively music to a very varied audience. Two TASNB committee members attended in the morning and one in the afternoon. The hospital setting was not an easy place to organise a concert of this sort and the weather on the day was atrocious. However, we all agreed that the band did a splendid job and are a wonderful resource, well worth supporting. We felt an event involving school aged children would be more appropriate and worth supporting in the future.
