Fancy a day out in London before Christmas?
Welcome to The Arts Society Uckfield, Lewes & Newick
Wishing you all a very Happy New Year 2026 and we are looking forward to continuing our rich and varied programme of lectures in the coming months.
Please note one change to the original programme. Sarah Cove's lecture How Constable's Late Paintings Changed the Face of Modern Art originally scheduled for March will now be given by Sarah on 14 October 2026.
Nick Salmond has kindly stepped into the breach with a lecture on 11th March entitled The Creation of the BBC.
Details of the complete programme can be found in the Events section of this website. Printed copies of this season's programme and membership cards for those who've yet to receive one will continue to be available 'front of house' at our next lecture on 14 January.
This is our first lecture of 2026 and will be given by Dr Colin Schindler on the intriguing theme of Screening the Novel: Books into Films.
We continue to be pleased to welcome Visitors/Guests (as well as Members) to our lectures for a small fee, £8, payable at the door.
REMINDER! Membership Renewal for 2025-26 season. The Membership Secretary will have copies of the renewal form available at the next meeting. Electronic copies can also be found on this website. Please contact the Membership Secretary via the email below for any renewal and new member questions.
For all Membership and General Enquiries, please email uckfieldlewesnewick@theartssociety.org
In October Dr Justin Reay gave a talk Sensation & Sensibility: Depictions of the Industrial Age & The Enlightenment by Joseph Wright. By coincidence, just one month after this lecture on the work of Joseph Wright, a special exhibition called Wright of Derby - From the Shadows opens on 7 November in the Sunley Room of the National Gallery. It runs until 10 May 2026. For details please visit our News section.
