Certain Member Society activities involve the preparation, handling and serving of food.  The Arts Society insurers confirmed that there are no specific exclusions in the policies for food related incidents. However, reasonable steps must be taken to ensure the safety of members and visitors.

It is understood that it should not be necessary for Societies to register with their Local Authority under the latest food hygiene legislation. Committees may wish to confirm this position with their own Local Authority as there may be regional variations in food hygiene practice and advice given by Authorities may vary.
