Alcohol Licensing

The Licensing Act 2003 introduced changes to the way in which premises that sell or provide alcohol are licensed. Premises such as pubs, clubs, cinemas, and village and community halls were all affected. Liquor licensing transferred from magistrates to local authorities. Dependant upon the type of activity being planned (where alcohol is to be served) any of the following might be required:

  • Premises Licences
  • Personal Licences
  • Temporary Events Notices
  • Club Premises Certificates

Member Societies are advised to initially establish whether their venues possess a Premises Licence. Specific advice can also be obtained from the relevant local authority.
