A day out exploring the history, design and architecture of the two Liverpool Cathedrals, situated at either end of Hope Street

Discover the stories behind the two famous buildings, both of which are National Heritage listed.  Liverpool Anglican Cathedral, a Church of England cathedral, is the largest in Britain and the 5th largest in the world. It is filled with artwork, statues, paintings and sculptures, as  well as installations and work from contemporary artists. It also has the largest pipe organ in the  UK.

The Metropolitan Cathedral, officially known as the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King (or Paddy’s wigwam to the locals).  The design of the Cathedral is the fourth attempt to build a mother church for the Liverpool Catholic diocese – and the culmination of a story that stretches back over a century. The intriguing attempts of each design can be explored.

Full details and timings are on the flyer in 'Attachments'.
