The history of one of the most famous art collections in th world.
The Frick Collection, New York, is one of the most superb museums in the world. It was created mostly during the Gilded Age of American connoisseurship, the collection being gathered by the industrialist, Henry Clay Frick (1849-1919). His agents and dealers, Berenson and Duveen among them, were really effective in sourcing great works of art. This outstanding collection includes fine French furniture, enamels, porcelain, paintings by Bellini, Van Eyck, Holbein, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Van Dyck, Rubens, El Greco, Velázquez, Fragonard, Ingres, Renoir, JMW Turner, Constable, Whistler and many others. These are all set within an outstanding mansion in Manhattan. It is topical to reconsider this collection as the Frick has undergone major redevelopment recently and has reopened in April 2025.
