This lecture analyses why the British public have embraced Art Deco architecture of the 1920's and 1930's so whole-heartedly.
From hotels, restaurants and tube stations to apartment blocks, offices, picture houses and lidos, the British public have fallen in love with Art Deco architecture of the 1920's and 1930's.
Using suitable examples across the UK this lecture explores the development of Art Deco style in context of the social and economic environment of the 1920s and 1930s and how this architecture promoted civic pride and such luxury for its clients during the interwar period.
