We are delighted to announce the publication of 50 Treasures of Chiltern Hills.
Chiltern Hills Area
The Arts Society, Chiltern Hills Area currently covers most of the societies in Buckinghamshire and includes some in east Oxfordshire, Windsor and Maidenhead.
There are 14 Societies in this Area covering Buckinghamshire as well as parts of Berkshire and Oxfordshire.
The Area Support Team exists to enhance your enjoyment of the Society as an existing or potential member and offers support to local Societies through Area Meetings, educational events and co-ordination of the Arts Volunteering, Heritage Volunteers and Trails of Discovery activities.
Our aims are to promote the appreciation and study of every aspect of the arts and to preserve our artistic heritage for the benefit of all. To this end, we organise programmes of lectures, visits, tours and special interest days as well as the volunteer activities. Non-members are welcome to attend special interest days, and are particularly welcome to join the volunteers in their work in arts and heritage projects.
Each society has their own society webpage, you can find out more by clicking the Society name in the list on this page.
In Chiltern Hills we play our part in preserving our national heritage and giving back to the arts, with volunteers involved in;
- Restoration and conservation of old books - painstaking work under the guidance of a professional conservator.
- Trails to encourage young children to explore their local churches and discover ancient things.
- Young Arts projects, funded by our societies to help school children to develop their artistic talent and expression: making things can be fun and different!
- Grants to students in tertiary education, in areas such as silver-smithing, jewellery, furniture making and textiles, all based round local resources to be found in our area.
Church Recording - archiving details of stained glass windows, medieval wall paintings, ancient silver, church organs etc.
CULTUR.ART is the digital production unit of The Arts Society and a not-for-profit platform that makes art mean more to more people.
