YOUNG ARTS VOLUNTEER GROUP AWARD

YOUNG ARTS VOLUNTEER GROUP AWARD

25 Feb 2019

Aided by a generous grant from The Arts Society, The Young Arts Volunteer Group of The Arts Society, Bolton is to sponsor the installation of a permanent art feature, made by the children of ACIS (Achievement, Cohesion, Integration Service).  ACIS welcomes children aged between 5-16, and their families, who have been victims of atrocities (Gateway Families) or whose country is at war (Asylum Seekers).  ACIS introduces them to the British way of life in Bolton’s community, whilst recognising their own culture and heritage. This art project will reduce their sense of isolation by overcoming language barriers, and empowering them to contribute to something permanent in the community.

Two local, qualified artists will direct the children on ceramic work appropriate to their age, using equipment provided by the grant. The completed work will be on display in the ACIS entrance hall from 13 March.
