YOUNG ARTS PROJECT 2019 - COSTUMES FOR SHROPSHIRE YOUTH THEATRE (SYT) PRODUCTION OF "PRIDE & PREJUDICE"

23 Mar 2019

This year SYT are putting on a production of 'Pride and Prejudice which will play in The Walker Theatre of Theatre Severn on 10th and 11th April 2019. The Arts Society Shrewsbury is sponsoring the costumes as this period drama  makes heavy demands on the costume department both in terms of quality and quantity, some characters requiring up to 4 changes of costume during the performance. While as many costumes as possible will be designed and made in-house by SYT's costumes team, some will have to be hired.

On March 7th, our Chairman, Young Arts Representative, and spouses attended a rehearsal at The Hive, during which our Chairman presented our sponsor's cheque to the chairman of SYT.  Watching the rehearsal was really inspiring. The young people were so enthusiastic and  the directors Andrew Bannerman and Maggie Love were amazing. We loved how they directed with such encouragement, and the way  they managed to get the results they wanted with patience and determination. Clearly SYT is flourishing and continues to offer the youth of Shropshire an inspiring and professional introduction to all aspects of theatre. They all made us so welcome, so a most enjoyable evening.
