WALLED GARDEN TRAIL OF DISCOVERY
WALLED GARDEN TRAIL OF DISCOVERY

The Copped Hall open day on Sunday June 2nd was fabulously sunny and warm, encouraging large numbers of visitors. This stately home in Essex, currently being renovated from total dilapidation, is a huge building set in many acres of land adjoining Epping Forest. The trust and volunteers who are bringing this fascinating project to life have undertaken a monumental task, but their dedication and hard work has already brought both the building and parts of the grounds to life.
As part of the celebrations, The Arts Society West Essex launched a Trail of Discovery to lead children around the walled kitchen garden – at around four acres one of the largest in southeast England. This area provides an opportunity to learn about history, design, horticulture, food production and more, and the guidance of a carefully researched trail helps bring the past and the lives of our ancestors to life.
This was one of two trails for Copped Hall created by The Arts Society West Essex.
“ We used the Walled Garden Trail of Discovery today for 60 8/9 year olds from Theydon Bois Primary School today and shall be using it for 30 more on Thursday. It went down absolutely brilliantly. Thank you and your team from the Copped Hall Trust Education Team. The children learnt so much from it.” Nicola - Theydon Bois Primary School.
