Volunteers’ Week 2018

Volunteers’ Week 2018

1 Jun 2018

The Arts Society is powered by volunteers, who come together and work tirelessly out of a shared love of the arts. Whether they’re giving up their time to run Societies, help conserve the nation’s heritage or grant children access to the arts, volunteers are our lifeblood.

This Volunteers’ Week, we’d like to celebrate in particular our Marsh Award winners. Each year, the Marsh Christian Trust acknowledges the contributions made by volunteers of The Arts Society in the field of heritage conservation and arts education – and this year, the winners are Marion and Bill Hastings, from the Isle of Man, for Heritage Volunteering, John Blackford, from Faversham, Kent, for Church Recording, Elizabeth Barnikel from North Wilts for her work with our Young Arts initiative, and Beaconsfield and Gerrards Cross Church Recording Group.

Last year, the Marsh Christian Trust generously offered to sponsor an additional award for Arts Society volunteers – those who serve on Society Committees. This year, the winner of the Society Committee Award is The Arts Society Wrekin.

In this short film they tell us about running their thriving Society.
