Visit to Counterpoint Exhibition at the Stanley Spencer Gallery, Cookham
10 Feb 2020
On Wednesday 18 September a group of members met at the Stanley Spencer Gallery to visit the interetsing Counterpoint Exhibition. Tea, coffee and conversation were enjoyed over packed lunches in the church hall. In the afternoon, the group walked around Cookham village, learning about places where Stanley Spencer had painted.
Ann Danks, Archivist and Chrissy Rosenthal, Presentation Officer, both very experienced lecturers with academic knowledge of Stanley's life and work, led us in the Gallery and on the walk. As a small group, we could ask questions about his work and his life.
Some members were also able to stay in the afternoon for a guided visit by Michael Johnson around Holy Trinity Church. Everyone who came felt it was an excellent trip.
