Partnership with We Can Dance and the Mowbray School in Bedale

The Arts Society Wensleydale has established a partnership with a locally-based charity We Can Dance (Charity no 1136698 ) and the Mowbray School in Bedale. This school, which is located in Wensleydale, educates and cares for pupils aged three to sixteen years who have an Education Health Care Plan. The pupils have a wide range of learning difficulties including:

• Moderate, severe and complex learning difficulties
• Speech, language and communication difficulties
• Physical and sensory impairments
• Dyspraxia
• Social, emotional and behavioural difficulties
• Autistic Spectrum Conditions including Aspergers

It is well established that music and dance provide a vital therapy for children with these types of learning issues. We Can Dance is well-established organisation which funds and provides resources for music and dance workshops run by trained specialist dance teachers. 

The Arts Society Wensleydale has successfully secured a grant of  £1500 from the Patricia Fay Foundation which is being used to fund twice-weekly workshops at the school.
