Tony treated us to a masterclass in advertising last night. Showing its development through the ages, and with stunning visuals, he entertained and enlightened us with some amazing ads - some brilliant & some so crass they caused huge intakes of breath from the audience.

He delved into how an ad should be developed, who they target, how to appeal to the emotions of the target audience and what makes a successful ad. He showed how techniques have changed over time & why some may not work now. He also discussed the issues future ad creators face.

He finished with a wonderful... (well if you were there, you know, and if you weren't, bad luck - no spoilers here!).

Suffice to say everyone loved it.

Attending our lecture was Felicitas Wagner who won our Emerging Artist Award at Penwith College's "Objects of Vertu" student show in June. She has been selected as one of only 20 (from a total of  over 200 entries) to exhibit in London early next year as part of the RBA Star Student Competition. She brought her wonderful watercolour entitled "Feathered Fight" with her and we able to enjoy seeing it once more, & talk with Felicitas about its creation, as well as her other work, at our after lecture party.

Those who attended our party enjoyed yummy food & a warming punch concoction, as well as stimulating conversation. It was an excellent evening - so good many didn't seem to want to leave & we were practically having to push people out of the door at the end.

Thank you all for coming!
