HAMBLETON WILL CONTINUE WITH HYBRID

HAMBLETON WILL CONTINUE WITH HYBRID

30 Jun 2022

In 2022 as our monthly HYBRID lectures go by, we have seen a significant return in person to our delightful Solberge Hall venue. Around 80 in regular attendance, well-spaced out in the hall and over 30 devices on ZOOM.  This latter being equivalent to around 40 actual attendees.

We have refined our HYBRID setup and processes which allow both the Host and Lecturer a considerable degree of freedom in front of our truly unobtrusive camera/mic system.  Lecturers taking part in the ten HYBRIDS we have completed to date have been highly cooperative and say that they are very happy with our setup.

Our committee has therefore taken the decision to continue with HYBRID for the foreseeable future to cater for a new online audience we have attracted.

At our most recent lecture in June, Tony Lidington played us out for our summer Break in great style. Tony gave a highly animated talk on the seaside entertainers the Pierrot players, describing their origins, their huge popularity and how it morphed into wartime respite for troops giving rise to many household names on radio and TV thereafter. Tony is passionate about preserving this popular art form which brought pleasure to many millions. The pictures show Tony performing with our HYBRID SETUP.  He even played the banjo!

Chair Lizzie Johnston says,  “We are delighted to see so many members now returning to Solberge Hall, with attendance numbers heading towards pre-covid levels. Our ability to share live online performance over the past two years has in part attracted a new audience which we value.  I am particularly delighted that we now have the robust capability to continue to offer this live online presence”.
