Guildford donates much needed funds to the Mayor's chosen charity: Guildford Young Carers

The Arts Society Guildford presented Guildford's Mayor, Mike Parsons, with more than £400 raised through Waitrose's Community Matters scheme (all those green tokens that we put in charity boxes on the way out!). Guildford Borough Council are 50% matching the amount making an amazing £618 total for the Mayor's chosen charity: Guildford Young Carers which identifies those children, often unrecognised/unregistered, who have a caring role outside school and supports them and their families providing theatre, sports and arts activities. More than 300 children in Guildford have been identified so far, most without any support.

Sian Davis, The Arts Society Chair said 'We are delighted to help the Mayor and through him Guildford Young Carers a very poignant and worthwhile charity operating in an area where many in Guildford would not suspect there is such need for help and support.
