Golden Jubilee Exhibition

Golden Jubilee celebrations with The Arts Society Basingstoke
Golden Jubilee celebrations got off to an early start in Basingstoke, when we were offered a space in The Willis Museum, to mount an exhibition of artwork by our members.
With 33 submissions, including, pottery, needlework, photography and artwork in a variety of mediums, we were able to fill the room. The addition of Arts Society banners in official colours, lent to us by the Hampshire and IOW Area, complemented the display and made for a professional look.
The exhibition opened on 7thApril and we welcomed Rt Hon Maria Miller MP, Basingstoke, Deputy Mayor and Mayoress Sean and Gwen Keating,, and Area Chairman, Christopher Esplin-Jones CBE, who gave a very informative speech, detailing some of the history of the Arts Society and reminding us that the new logo is now the third in our history. Below are some pictures from the occasion.
The exhibition has generated interest in the press and with That’s Hampshire TV.
The exhibition runs until May 12th and entry is free.
