Farley Arts Awards and Young Artists Exhibition
Farley Arts Awards and Young Artists Exhibition
29 Oct 2024
Our Programme Secretary Peggy Hooton, writes “Recently we (The Arts Society Uckfield, Lewes and Newick) supported the Farley House Schools’ exhibition with a small donation and, separately, we are developing an Arts Bytes link with Uckfield College. I met Bethan Archer, Curriculum Lead of Art at Uckfield College recently, to discuss the latter but she also mentioned that her sixth formers have paintings in the current Farley exhibition!”
Bethan has kindly taken the time to write about this biennial exhibition and its benefit to her pupils and to share some of their art.
“Farley’s Arts Awards exhibition is open to Sussex schools GCSE and A level students. They go through a selection process and those selected to exhibit are invited to a Private View one evening, and then the show is open to the public. It is wonderful for the students to see their work in a professional gallery.
There are several categories for students to win awards. Also there is a bursary available to apply for if a student has won an award and is already studying at university/post A levels. I have had students in the past who have benefited from this greatly, and have then been invited to exhibit alongside professional artists at the Farleys gallery.”
Members are welcome to view the exhibition which opens to the public on Sunday 17th November from 14:00 to 16:00. Details can be checked on the Farley House website https://www.farleyshouseandgallery.co.uk/
