Driffield Wolds 35th Anniversary
Driffield Wolds 35th Anniversary
18 Aug 2023
On Thursday 29 June the Arts Society Driffield Wolds celebrated its 35th Anniversary at the Highfield House. Forty six members had drinks on the terrace followed by a performance by two students from Driffield School. Ava and Ruby Lawton sang and played various pieces on the mandolin and guitar.
Afterwards we enjoyed a lovely two-course meal followed by a raffle. The Chairman, Ann Bernard, gave a brief history of the society talking about its formation in 1988 and mentioning the various activities we have been involved in over the years, including projects for young arts and children’s church trails. The society donated £200 to Driffield School Music Department.
Many members had happy memories of the Highfield from having had engagement parties and wedding receptions there over the years. It was a real treat to see how it has been sympathetically restored by its current owners.
(Thanks to Mrs Helga Toon for the report)
