Buckinghamshire New University Awards Scheme

Buckinghamshire New University Awards Scheme

10 Jul 2024

The Arts Society Chiltern Hills Area has had an awards scheme for a number of years. Latterly awards have been given to students attending Buckinghamshire New University and post graduates attending Bishopsland, the silver smiths’ college.

At BNU the students gave a presentation of their work to Charlotte Carpenter, Felicity Sykes and Caroline Masterson on the 12th April. Ten students gave computer presentations, along with their story boards and examples of their work. The work was of a high standard and very varied.

The first award was given to Alex Millar for her natural products, she was developing her own materials.

The second award went to Becca Cash. Her work was inspired by corals and their vivid colours. She is interested in sustainable materials, hand embroidery and fluorescent materials.

The thirrd award went to Sairra Holder who was inspired by her artistic relatives who did collages, lino block printing, jewellery and architecture.

The students are very grateful for the awards. The money goes towards the cost of materials for which they have to pay.  Buckinghamshire New University are appreciative of the scheme as pitching for an award helps to prepare the students for life outside the university when they may have to this to get either jobs or customers.

The Awards Scheme is stopping for the time being as there are no funds available. Hopefully this will change in the future.
