The Arts Society Welwyn Garden trip to Sir John Soane's Museum London
The Arts Society Welwyn Garden trip to Sir John Soane's Museum London
20 Jun 2024
On 24th May TASWG members had a very pleasant visit to Sir John Soane’s Museum at Lincoln’s Inn Fields.
The fascinating museum is housed in Sir John’s private home, which encompasses more than one house! Sir John was an inveterate collector of art and antiquities, all of which are cleverly displayed within the houses. The collection includes everything from Canaletto paintings to ancient Egyptian sarcophagi, plus many other ancient artefacts. At the beginning of the visit members were given a short bespoke explanatory talk which set the scene for what was to come.
