Arts and Music Societies join up to bring opera to a Chester school

FLAT PACK MUSIC, a charitable company based in the North West, specialises in making opera and classical music accessible to all.  They recently visited Dee Banks School in Chester for four music workshops supported by a community arts grant from Arts Society Chester, in collaboration with Chester Music Society.  Dee Banks is a specialist school for children with special educational needs. 

Each session was taken by three professional opera singers, including Heather Heighway, in the centre of the photos, who is a qualified soprano and music therapist.  They performed stimulating excerpts from familiar operas accompanied by percussion instruments and soothing sensory materials.
