Art Bags

Poundbury Quilters provided 50 bags for us.  Each bag was filled by TASDC with a variety of creative materials including pencils, a watercolour set, a sketch pad, cards and much more. They are designed to inspire and bring joy to children of all ages. 
They are being distributed to families living in Dorchester and nearby who are experiencing financial hardship. Liz Meech, from “Food Share” at the Dorchester Community Church, has told us that they  will go out with the Christmas deliveries.  

We have had an update which made our New Year.

"We have had a lovely time distributing the art kits during the week before Christmas.  Amazingly, we had just the right number of the teens and primary school age children - there are just two or three family kits over and these will be great to be able to give out to new "larger" families referred to us.

I wanted to share with you one of the families' responses that sums up the reaction we were receiving from the deliveries.

"You are full of surprises, thank you so much; I was just saying I wish we had more craft bits to do with our son.  He is going to so love the art bag.  Please pass on my thanks/this message to the Art Society.  It real is so lovely.  Merry Christmas to all of you at Food Share, sending our love to you all." 

None of the families had any idea about the art kits, so they were totally unexpected and were delivered when School had just finished, but there were several days before the excitement of Christmas - well timed to engage the youngsters whilst the parents were busy with preparations.
